Visionary Art by Samuel Farrand

Activation Sequence | 2018

With my piece Activation Sequence I was trying to Illustrate the human body as a system of spiritual energy. Circuit board pattern in the background was used to symbolize connection, sort of like how a microchip works on a computer but from a biological point of view.

I made all the chakras electric so that they almost appeared as LEDs that get turned on when all the circuitry connections are flowing the way they were designed to flow. As each LED is turned on the more activated the circuitry becomes.

Eventually all the LEDs are turned on and the figure is in total 100% activation sequence (The name of the Art Piece) but if you look closely you can see the focal point of the entire illustration from where all this energy stems from is the heart center known as the Anahata chakra - the seat of divine love & empathy.

So the design is basically saying turn on your heart and you will turn on the rest of your self, this is similar to what psychedelic experiences and religions teach us as well. So turn on that lovelight and let it shine, let it shine! (Grateful Dead)

Visionary Artist - Samuel Farrand

Creating visionary art as early as 2007, Samuel Farrand evokes the psychedelic style of artists such as Alex Grey, Robert Venosa, Victor Moscoso, Luke Brown, and Xavi Panneton.

Samuel weaves electrifying neon colors, complex patterns, and intricate mandalas into his visionary art, narrating a story in each piece rich with meaning and symbolism.

Today, Sam has become one of the leading artists in the modern psychedelic art movement. He has showcased his visionary work at venues such as Threyda along side other digital artists such as Android Jones, Jake Amason, Steven McCorry (Glass Crane) & Justin Totemical as well as temporary art installations across Burning Man and psytrance music festivals across the globe. He has teamed with VJ greats such as Jonathan Singer who has projection mapped for the Grateful Dead Fare Thee Well Tour and appeared behind famous DJs such as Trip-Hop Legend Dave Tipper.

Samuel Farrand's visionary art extends beyond music festival culture. Notably, his work is featured at Meow Wolf in both the Las Vegas and Santa Fe locations.

One of his fondest career moment was having his visionary artwork grace the cover of best-selling author/plant shaman Chris Kilham's best-selling cult literature "Ayahuasca: A Test Pilot's Handbook," which was featured live on CNN—a pivotal moment in the history of plant medicine.
