Visionary Art by Samuel Farrand

Ouroboros | 2021

Ouroboros | 2021

For those who don't know what the Ouroboros is or what it symbolizes, let me explain. The ouroboros is an ancient symbol representing cycles ending and beginning as the snake eats its tail and regenerates itself so does life, from the cosmos to relationships to jobs the ouroboros is a concept ingrained into our everyday living.

The ouroboros is a symbol to start fresh and that the ending of things just means transformation. Everything in the universe is transforming one way or another energy cannot be created or destroyed it just is, so it is with Ouroboros we are reminded of our transient nature.

In my interpretation I went through the elements to illustrate the transformative nature of alchemy. Starting from Earth ending in Spirit and journeying through fire, water and air. This version of Ouroboros takes the viewer through a transformative visual journey that you can use to meditate as things begin and end.

Happy New Year and remember everything is transformation. Endings and Beginnings are all but illusions in the great cosmic cycle!

Visionary Artist - Samuel Farrand

Creating visionary art as early as 2007, Samuel Farrand evokes the psychedelic style of artists such as Alex Grey, Robert Venosa, Victor Moscoso, Luke Brown, and Xavi Panneton.

Samuel weaves electrifying neon colors, complex patterns, and intricate mandalas into his visionary art, narrating a story in each piece rich with meaning and symbolism.

Today, Sam has become one of the leading artists in the modern psychedelic art movement. He has showcased his visionary work at venues such as Threyda along side other digital artists such as Android Jones, Jake Amason, Steven McCorry (Glass Crane) & Justin Totemical as well as temporary art installations across Burning Man and psytrance music festivals across the globe. He has teamed with VJ greats such as Jonathan Singer who has projection mapped for the Grateful Dead Fare Thee Well Tour and appeared behind famous DJs such as Trip-Hop Legend Dave Tipper.

Samuel Farrand's visionary art extends beyond music festival culture. Notably, his work is featured at Meow Wolf in both the Las Vegas and Santa Fe locations.

One of his fondest career moment was having his visionary artwork grace the cover of best-selling author/plant shaman Chris Kilham's best-selling cult literature "Ayahuasca: A Test Pilot's Handbook," which was featured live on CNN—a pivotal moment in the history of plant medicine.
