Visionary Art by Samuel Farrand

Eldritch | 2025

Eldritch | 2025

I started the foundation of this piece several years ago, and off and on I would add a little bit of stuff here and there but it never really got anywhere - which is fine because this is the art process journey some pieces take years while some take days. What's important is that you stay true to the vision and don't rush a piece just because it's been a while.

I wanted to create a piece that reminded me of a vision I had while coming down from some psilocybin where I saw a bunch of ghostly, ghouly entities which is why I called the piece "Eldritch" which is a word that describes similar beings.

I love how some psychedelic visuals look like a network of mayan glyphs that come from a center and dissipate outward so with my piece Eldritch I felt creating a mirage of beings would fulfil both of my desires.

Working on just a black background for over a decade has its challenges over time. I try not to activate the negative space in the same way as my other work and try to aim for a different theme every time. I'm happy after doing over 400 psychedelic illustrations since 2011 that i'm still finding new ways to activate this void. This is my first piece of 2025 - Eldritch! Let me know what you think about it in the comments below!

Visionary Artist - Samuel Farrand

Creating visionary art as early as 2007, Samuel Farrand evokes the psychedelic style of artists such as Alex Grey, Robert Venosa, Victor Moscoso, Luke Brown, and Xavi Panneton.

Samuel weaves electrifying neon colors, complex patterns, and intricate mandalas into his visionary art, narrating a story in each piece rich with meaning and symbolism.

Today, Sam has become one of the leading artists in the modern psychedelic art movement. He has showcased his visionary work at venues such as Threyda along side other digital artists such as Android Jones, Jake Amason, Steven McCorry (Glass Crane) & Justin Totemical as well as temporary art installations across Burning Man and psytrance music festivals across the globe. He has teamed with VJ greats such as Jonathan Singer who has projection mapped for the Grateful Dead Fare Thee Well Tour and appeared behind famous DJs such as Trip-Hop Legend Dave Tipper.

Samuel Farrand's visionary art extends beyond music festival culture. Notably, his work is featured at Meow Wolf in both the Las Vegas and Santa Fe locations.

One of his fondest career moment was having his visionary artwork grace the cover of best-selling author/plant shaman Chris Kilham's best-selling cult literature "Ayahuasca: A Test Pilot's Handbook," which was featured live on CNN—a pivotal moment in the history of plant medicine.
